On the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to 143 Villa Road in Ridgeway, Virginia, after reports of shots fired into an occupied dwelling. Officers found 29-year-old Marquise Antonio Waller inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke for an autopsy.
Shortly after the shooting, 25-year-old Takai Anthony Brodie turned himself in to investigators. Brodie, described as a U.S. Army veteran from New Jersey, was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and held without bond. Authorities said Brodie had entered Waller’s residence armed with two firearms and shot him before fleeing; investigators reported Brodie’s claim of self-defense did not initially match the evidence they had gathered. The investigation into the circumstances of Waller’s death remained ongoing.
Did anyone in the Ridgeway area see or hear anything that afternoon, or know either man’s movements that day?
