Deanna Lee Criswell was 16 when her body was found on November 25, 1987, in a culvert in Marana, Arizona. A runaway from Washington state who had been in Tucson, she had been shot multiple times. Clothing on her suggested a transient life, and investigators were unable to identify her for decades.
In 2014 Criswell’s aunt and uncle located a forensic facial reconstruction of the Jane Doe online and alerted authorities; DNA comparison confirmed the young woman’s identity as Deanna Lee Criswell. Attention then focused on William Ross Knight, described as a man she had been involved with who sent her a bus ticket to Tucson. Ballistics linked the caliber used in Criswell’s killing to a gun Knight had used in a robbery. Knight died in prison in 2005 while serving time for other crimes.
Are there readers who remember Deanna, her travels through Tucson and Marana, or the people she knew in 1987?
