Harold David Hal Pratt, 60, and his wife Elizabeth Ann Betty Jirsa Pratt, 55, were camping in the Arizona desert west of Oracle Junction in Pinal County when hunters found their bodies on December 10, 1981. Both had been shot and killed. The killings were later linked to a string of violent murders across the western United States that began around that time.
Investigators tied the Pratts deaths to Robert Wayne Danielson Jr. Danielson had been on parole after a 1970 manslaughter conviction and, after his 1981 release, went on a violent crime spree across Arizona, Oregon, and California that included attacks on people in secluded areas and at campsites. He was arrested on April 6, 1984, and later convicted in multiple jurisdictions.
Does anyone have memories of the Pratts, their campsite, or the area west of Oracle Junction in late 1981 that could shed more light on what happened?
