On the evening of September 20, 2021, 40-year-old Keith McFadden was fatally shot in Texarkana, Arkansas, near East 11th and California Streets. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 9 p.m. and found McFadden in a yard with multiple gunshot wounds; bystander and emergency efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Cornell Bernard Brown of Memphis as the primary suspect, concluding he had traveled from Memphis with the apparent intent to commit the crime. Authorities say McFadden’s pockets were searched after the shooting and his wallet and a Rolex watch were stolen, and robbery was alleged as the motive. Brown was arrested in Memphis by a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force and extradited to Arkansas; his wife, Starlar Brown, was also charged in connection with the case.
If anyone remembers activity in the East 11th and California Streets area that night or has information about the robbery, please come forward.
