Jofflin Brown was 27 when he was shot and killed on the evening of September 11, 2021, in Magnolia, Arkansas. Known to family and friends as Big JayJay, he was a father of three described as outgoing, funny, and confident. Police were called to Fox Creek Apartments about 10:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired; a second caller reported a man lying behind the complex. Officers found Jofflin with multiple gunshot wounds to his right side. He was taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center but died of severe internal bleeding despite treatment and plans to transfer him.
Detectives canvassed the complex and spoke with witnesses who first thought the sounds were fireworks. One witness reported seeing a man drop something into a dumpster immediately after the shooting. Investigators recovered a loaded .22 pistol in the dumpster; its serial number had been defaced and a round in the chamber bore a primer strike, indicating it had failed to fire. Those findings led to the arrest of 32-year-old Willis Landtrell Harris of Magnolia, who was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a defaced firearm, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
If anyone knew Jofflin, his movements that night, or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
