In the early morning hours of May 19, 2021, Paul Eric Amos, 30, was shot and killed while walking near the intersection of North 6th Street and Baldwin Avenue in West Helena. A white SUV approached and a person inside opened fire, fatally striking Amos in his front yard. He is remembered as a devoted father of four who enjoyed singing karaoke, skateboarding, and drawing.
Investigators initially detained two acquaintances of Amos before identifying 30-year-old David Coley Jr. as the primary suspect. Authorities warned the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous and conducted a manhunt. On June 15, 2021, law enforcement located and arrested Coley in an abandoned bus on Lee Road southeast of Marianna; he was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.
Are there details about Paul’s last known movements or anyone who saw a white SUV in that neighborhood around 3 a.m. that could help clarify what happened?
