Detective Kevin Dwaine Collins, 35, of the Pine Bluff Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, was killed while serving an arrest warrant on October 5, 2020. Collins, a five-year department veteran and the 2017 Officer of the Year for a rescue from a fire, was shot multiple times at the Econo Lodge on Blake Street just after midday during an attempt to arrest a man wanted in Georgia. Another detective was wounded but survived.

A multi-agency manhunt followed the shooting and investigators identified a primary suspect believed to have been the man wanted on the out-of-state murder warrant. Another person was later implicated and federal charges were mentioned in connection with the incident. The Pine Bluff community mourned Collins’ death and the department later renamed its training center in his honor.

If anyone was in the Blake Street area around midday on October 5, 2020, or has information about the events that day, please come forward.
