On the late evening of August 13, 2020, 17-year-old Martin Davis, a Black male from Helena-West Helena, was fatally shot near Main and Alabama Streets in downtown Marianna, Arkansas. Law enforcement arrived around 10:30 p.m. and found Davis deceased at the scene; a 16-year-old Cameron Ryder was also struck but survived with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Memphis hospital. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division later took over the case.
Investigators sought two unidentified individuals who had been seen with Davis and Ryder outside a local business shortly before the shooting; those people were described as persons of interest who might have information. Martin, known as Bankroll and called Tiggo Bitty by his mother, attended Barton High School and enjoyed basketball, football and riding four-wheelers. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsy, and no arrests have been announced in the matter.
If anyone knew Martin, the people he was with that night, or has information about the shooting, please come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
