Late evening on February 27, 2020, Devonta Biddle, 24, was found fatally shot inside a home in the 1200 block of Linden Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. Police responded at about 8:55 p.m. to a report of a possible home invasion and shooting; officers discovered Biddle had died of a gunshot wound and the case was classified as a homicide.

Biddle and his girlfriend were house-sitting for his brother after the brother was warned his home was being watched. An intruder entered the house that evening; Biddle went to his brother’s bedroom to confront the person and was later found by his girlfriend suffering from the gunshot wound that killed him. Investigators identified two suspects from Magnolia, Arkansas — Damien Damon Butler and Cierra Nicole Gentry — and tied the incident to a drug-related burglary. Both were arrested and charged with capital murder.
