On a Monday afternoon in May 2019, 33-year-old Antonio Martin was found inside a vehicle at the intersection of 25th Avenue and Spruce Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The deputy coroner pronounced him dead at the scene at 5:12 p.m. A male passenger in the vehicle was also shot and taken to a local hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

The shooting was counted as Pine Bluff’s 12th homicide of the year. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the case: 24-year-old Anthony Boykin, charged with Capital Murder and Battering in the First Degree, and 23-year-old Wanda Whaley, charged with Hindering Apprehension.
