A shooting in Pine Bluff claimed the life of 47-year-old Theodis J. Morris in the early morning hours of a Thursday. Morris was found outside an apartment building at 13th and Maple Street with a fatal gunshot wound; the Jefferson County Coroner pronounced him dead at 1:47 a.m. The death was recorded on August 2, 2018, as the city’s third homicide in five days.

Pine Bluff Police canvassed the area and interviewed potential witnesses, but the motive was not immediately clear and no suspect was publicly identified in the days after the killing. Investigators later developed a person of interest and an arrest was made in connection with Morris’s death, and the matter moved into the criminal justice system. Specifics about the evidence and the identity of the person arrested were not widely publicized.

Did anyone in the community see activity around 13th and Maple Street that night or have information that could clarify what happened?
