On the afternoon of November 26, 2017, Charles Lindel Ice, a 39-year-old Black man from Stuttgart, Arkansas, was shot on North Lowe Street. Police were called at about 3:20 p.m.; officers found Ice with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. The Arkansas State Crime Lab received his body for a formal determination of cause and manner of death, and the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division assisted Stuttgart officers in treating the case as a homicide.
Witnesses reported a physical altercation between Ice and another man, identified in reports as Morgan McDonald of Stuttgart, immediately before the shooting. McDonald, then 30, was located and taken into custody the same day and initially held on first-degree murder and felony firearm charges. Court records later show the murder charge was reduced to second-degree and McDonald was allowed to post bond of $25,000 and released pending further proceedings, a development Ice’s family publicly criticized.
Many details remain focused on that November afternoon and the subsequent court filings; Ice is remembered in online memorials and crime logs that record the address and time of the fatal shooting. If anyone knew Charles Lindel Ice or witnessed what happened on North Lowe Street that day, information could be important to the family and investigators.
