In the early evening of March 26, 2017, gunfire rang out at the Broadmoor Arms Apartments, 801 South Wisconsin Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Officers found Charles Tinnie wounded by a gunshot to the chest; he staggered down a flight of stairs before collapsing and later died after emergency medical aid was given. Reports differ on Tinnie’s age, listing him as either 27 or 47.

Pine Bluff Police described the incident as arising from an argument between Tinnie and another person and opened a homicide investigation. Investigators soon identified a suspect and arrested 41-year-old Gwatney Akins on a charge of first-degree murder. The shooting was the city’s eighth homicide that year and was discussed in the context of ongoing gun violence in the community.

If anyone knew Charles Tinnie or witnessed the events at Broadmoor Arms that evening, any information could still be important to the record and to those who knew him.
