Mike King was killed in the autumn of 2016 in his mobile home in Rudy, Arkansas. Family remembered him as a loving father and grandfather with a big heart who sometimes made poor choices. The death was violent: he was shot in the stomach, and his mobile home was set on fire in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.
Investigators focused on Jeremy Brake. Prosecutors accused him of murder and arson; the firearm used was never recovered but the case went to trial. In March 2018 a jury convicted Brake of second-degree murder, arson, tampering with physical evidence, using a firearm during a crime, and endangering the welfare of a minor. Brake received an aggregate sentence of 43 years, with some terms to run concurrently and an expected active time of 17 years and the possibility of parole in under five years.
If anyone knew Mike King, his movements in Rudy in autumn 2016, or has information about the fire or shooting, please come forward.
