Beau DeWitt, 22, and his friend Aaron Brock, 22, were found shot to death inside a compacted car at a Pope County U-Pull-It auto salvage yard after visiting the site in September 2016 to search for parts. The salvage yard manager, Tyler Barefield, 35, reported suspicious activity; deputies discovered blood on a pile of crushed vehicles and the two bodies inside one of the compacted cars. Investigators determined the men had been shot before the vehicle was crushed and that they were trespassing on the property.
Prosecutors said Barefield lay in wait with a rifle to ambush the pair, motivated by a desire to stop repeat break-ins at the yard. He was arrested, tried, and in November 2017 convicted of two counts of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole. The Arkansas Supreme Court later upheld the convictions.
Did anyone in the area know DeWitt or Brock, or have information about that night at the salvage yard?
