Bruce Wayne Hurley, 49, was shot once in the left side and killed around 1 a.m. on May 2, 2016, in the 2200 block of Edwards Road in Atkins, Arkansas. The Pope County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation after the early morning killing.

Investigators uncovered that Hurley had been cooperating with law enforcement as a confidential informant about drug trafficking tied to an associate of the white supremacist group New Aryan Empire (NAE). Prosecutors say Marcus Millsap solicited NAE members to retaliate while he was out on bond for a methamphetamine conviction. NAE president Wesley Gullett was implicated in an earlier attempted killing, and other members made prior failed attacks on Hurley in January 2016.

Several high-ranking NAE members were arrested and later convicted for their roles in the conspiracy and attempts on Hurley’s life, and Millsap was convicted of attempted murder in aid of racketeering; court documents nonetheless describe Hurley’s murderer as an unknown perpetrator. Does anyone have information about who fired the fatal shot or about Hurley’s movements that night?
