On the evening of May 23, 2015, 19-year-old Joshua Campbell was fatally shot inside a residence near 13th Avenue and Linden Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The Jefferson County Coroner ruled the cause of death a single gunshot wound. Police say the shooting occurred during a gathering of teenagers and that a small-caliber pistol discharged while a group of juveniles was handling it.

Officers were called about 7 p.m. and found Campbell deceased inside the home. A 14-year-old who had been among the group told officers he had been playing with the firearm when it went off; he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The case was Pine Bluff’s fourth homicide that year.
