Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on March 13, 2015, a confrontation at the Applegate Apartments in Springdale, Arkansas, ended in gunfire that killed 18-year-old Fabian Rodriguez and wounded two others. Rodriguez was part of a group that approached the apartment where 17-year-old Hector Saul Ramos lived; witnesses reported the group banged on a window and that one person in Rodriguez’s group was allegedly armed with a machete. Ramos fired a handgun through his window, striking Rodriguez, a 14-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman.
Rodriguez was taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical Center and pronounced dead; a machete was reportedly found near his body. Police identified and arrested Ramos at the scene and charged him as an adult. A jury later acquitted him of murder but convicted him of negligent homicide and two counts of first-degree battery, resulting in probation and a suspended jail term.
Did anyone in Springdale see activity at the Applegate Apartments that night or know the people involved?
