On the evening of March 20, 2022, 37-year-old Dominique Vernice Curtis was found in the driveway of the Atrium Condominium and Apartment complex on East Main Street in Meriden, Connecticut, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. A mother of three, Curtis was a former standout track athlete at Hillhouse High School and Delaware State University and was employed as a state correctional officer.
Meriden police identified 36-year-old Tyrese Worthy as the suspect and described the incident as a case of domestic violence. Worthy fled on foot, reportedly knocked on neighbors’ doors seeking a phone, then carried out an armed carjacking near the Interstate 91 on-ramp at Preston Avenue before a multi-agency manhunt. Warrants charged him with murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and multiple counts of risk of injury to a minor after children were found hiding near the scene.
On April 5, 2022, Worthy was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a residence on Plymouth Street in New Haven, and the criminal case was closed. Anyone who knew Dominique or has information about her life or the events that night is asked to come forward.
