On December 12, 2021, in the pre-dawn hours on Black Rock Avenue in Bridgeport, Michael Harrigan, 42, was found unresponsive inside his vehicle after police were called about 4:44 a.m. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Harrigan was a father of two sons and an artist; friends and a childhood friend who became a City Council member remembered him as a creative soul who taught his son to draw.
Detectives treated the death as the city’s 20th homicide of the year and worked the investigation to identify suspects. Surveillance footage showed two armed men approaching Harrigan’s car and fleeing after a brief violent encounter. Blood droplets inside the vehicle yielded a DNA match to Jacque Richard of Waterbury, who had prior felony convictions; police arrested Richard in March 2022 and charged him with murder, felony murder, first-degree robbery, and multiple firearm offenses. Authorities said they were still seeking the second man who acted as Richard’s accomplice in the robbery gone tragically wrong.
Did anyone in the Bridgeport or Waterbury areas see those two men or have information about the second person involved?
