On the evening of December 3, 2021, a burst of gunfire in Bridgeport, Connecticut left 37-year-old Jalen Parilla with a fatal gunshot wound. The shooting occurred around 9:20 p.m. near West Avenue and West Liberty Street. Parilla, a Stratford resident, was found by police and taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Investigators quickly focused on Miguel Rojas, then 28 and from Bridgeport, after witnesses identified him at the scene.
