On the evening of October 2, 2020, Jamain Allen, a 40-year-old Black man, was fatally shot at the Quick Stop Barbershop on Pequonnock Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Shortly after 8 p.m., a gunman entered the shop and opened fire on employees and patrons. Allen was shot multiple times, including in the head, and was found in a lot adjacent to the barbershop; he was pronounced dead at the scene. A second employee, Jose Rivera, was shot once in the arm and survived.

Investigators reported a motive tied to retaliation over a drug-related theft. Weeks before the shooting, Allen’s brother had reportedly stolen three kilograms of cocaine from a man identified as Tavares Jefferson. According to a relative who later spoke to police, he and a friend had broken into what they thought was a sneaker store and inadvertently took the cocaine; after that theft, armed men reportedly broke into the relative’s home and warned through his young son that their property must be returned or someone would die.

Does anyone have information about the events around the theft or about who else might have known about the cocaine prior to October 2, 2020?
