Raymond Sierra, 27, was fatally shot in front of his Union Avenue home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on the evening of September 24, 2020. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Sierra was an aspiring professional boxer and a father of five. He had just returned from a nearby store shortly before 8 p.m. and was shot once in the chest after being approached by two men. His children had been setting up a small Halloween display on the lawn, just feet from where he fell.
Family members who heard the shot rushed outside and tried to take Sierra to the hospital; police patrol units also assisted, but he was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. Investigators say witnesses described an attempted robbery at gunpoint and that the motive may have involved a debt or envy over Sierra’s success as a boxer. A friend, 23-year-old Deontae Boykin, later surrendered and was charged in connection with the incident as a participant in the attempted robbery; the shooter who fired the fatal shot has not been publicly identified or arrested and the investigation remains active.
Does anyone have information about the incident or remember seeing anything on Union Avenue that evening?
