Miguelangelo Ismail Afzal, 22, was last seen on November 21, 2019, near Barnum Avenue and Pembroke Street in Bridgeport after telling his father he was returning from a friend’s house. His family reported him missing that day. Weeks later, on December 8, 2019, search teams found his body in the basement of a vacant building on the abandoned Remington Arms property; the medical examiner determined he died from a gunshot wound to the back of his head and ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators focused on the friend he had been with that day, Luis Roman, after surveillance footage showed them walking together toward the abandoned building and Roman later gave inconsistent accounts to police. Roman initially fled to Ohio before being arrested there in March 2021 and brought back to Connecticut to face a murder charge. A relative testified that Roman confessed to luring Miguelangelo to the building, making him kneel, and shooting him in the back of the head.

Does anyone have information about Miguelangelo’s last known movements or the area around Barnum Avenue and Pembroke Street on November 21, 2019?
