On the morning of August 11, 2019, 32-year-old Francisco J. Huertas was fatally shot outside a residence on Allen Avenue in Meriden, Connecticut. Neighbors heard gunshots and saw a man on the ground; police arriving at about 11:42 a.m. found Huertas on the front lawn, having been shot multiple times. Investigators believe he was working on a truck when two individuals approached him.
Born August 6, 1987, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Huertas—known to family as Macho—was a husband and father who enjoyed writing, art, and music and worked for Black Bear Concrete in Massachusetts. The Meriden Police Major Crimes Division described the killing as a violent and brazen crime and asked residents for any home security footage from that morning. No arrests have been announced; a $50,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
If anyone saw activity near Allen Avenue that morning or has security video or other details, please contact the Meriden Police Department.
