On the evening of July 20, 2017, 26-year-old Johnny Lezeau was fatally shot on Ely Avenue in Norwalk, Connecticut. Police say they responded around 7:45 p.m. to reports of shots fired near 236 Ely Ave and found Lezeau with life-threatening injuries; he was taken to Norwalk Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Investigators described the shooting as not random and believed Lezeau was the intended target of a drive-by. Witnesses reported a white Honda Civic or Ford Taurus speeding away after four or five shots were fired, and Lezeau collapsed onto a lawn. The investigation continued for months, and in March 2018 Norwalk police arrested 21-year-old Jermaine Scott of Norwalk and charged him with murder; the arrest warrant was sealed and Scott was held on $1 million bond.
There are unanswered questions about motive, witnesses, and the vehicle seen leaving the scene. If anyone in Norwalk knew Johnny, saw activity on Ely Avenue that night, or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
