In the early morning hours of July 2, 2017, a dispute between neighbors in Bridgeport, Connecticut ended with the death of 44-year-old Ronald Simmons. The conflict reportedly began over a parking space and had produced ongoing tension between the families. Around 2:15 a.m., a physical confrontation broke out in the State Street apartment building parking lot after members of both families became involved.

According to witnesses, Simmons intervened to protect his stepdaughter as the wife and daughters of neighbor Waldo Abel Gonzalez were allegedly attacking her. While the women were being separated, Gonzalez emerged, produced a handgun from his ankle area, fired a single shot and struck Simmons in the torso. Simmons staggered onto Fremont Street, collapsed, and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The shooting was Bridgeport’s 15th homicide of the year.

Police later identified Gonzalez as the primary suspect and arrested him; his wife and two daughters were also taken into custody on related charges. Does anyone have information about the dispute or the events that night that could help clarify what happened?
