Jonathan Cooper, 25, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of April 23, 2016, in Hamden, Connecticut, while visiting from Brooklyn to celebrate family events. He was stopped at a red light at Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street around 1:30 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside and an occupant fired multiple shots, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cooper was a Metropolitan Business Academy graduate who studied audio technology at the SAE Institute of Technology in New York City and had recently been promoted to a manager position at a Manhattan coffee shop. His family described him as a devoted son and brother who had returned home for celebrations honoring his sister and a cousin.
The Hamden Police Major Crimes Division opened an investigation and asked the public for information about the SUV or anyone involved. No arrests or suspects have been publicly announced. If anyone has information about that vehicle, the shooting, or Cooper’s final movements that night, please share what is known.
