On the morning of April 9, 2016, a dispute inside Bobby D’s Bar on Whitewood Road in Waterbury, Connecticut escalated into a fatal shooting. Thirty-six-year-old Harry Mendoza was involved in a physical altercation with a group of men that began inside the bar and continued outside in the parking lot. Mendoza was holding a pool cue when a man approached and fired two shots; one struck Mendoza in the chest and a second hit his thigh. Mendoza was taken to a hospital but died a few hours later.
Police identified 20-year-old Luis Castro as the primary suspect and sought him on charges of murder, reckless endangerment, and illegal discharge of a firearm. Authorities warned Castro was dangerous and believed he had fled the state, with possible travel to Puerto Rico. Mendoza is described as a beloved father, son, and brother.
If anyone has information about the shooting or Castro’s whereabouts, please share what is known with investigators.
