On the evening of May 9, 2015, 22-year-old Juvontee Tinsley was shot and killed outside a residence on Ohio Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. According to police, Tinsley approached a parked car to speak with someone inside when an occupant fired a shot that struck him in the chest. The vehicle fled east on Ohio Avenue, cut through a yard at a dead end, and was last seen traveling south on East Main Street. Tinsley was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he died; his death was the city’s fifth homicide of that year.
Tinsley, described by family and friends as a loving family man and a former high school football player, had a 19-year-old girlfriend who lived nearby with their two-year-old son; she was pregnant with their second child at the time. Investigators noted a possible motive linked to a lingering dispute and said Tinsley had been a suspect earlier that same day in a shooting on Velvet Street. A makeshift memorial of flowers and candles was placed at the scene on Mother’s Day weekend.
No arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved. If anyone has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
