In the early hours of March 7, 2015, multiple gunshots were heard at a Spring Street basement apartment in New London, Connecticut. Responding officers found 31-year-old Floyd Fooks Jr. suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m. This was New London’s first homicide in over a year.
Investigators from the New London Police Department, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit, and the New London County State’s Attorney’s Office treated the killing as a targeted attack rather than a random shooting. Acting Police Chief Peter Reichard said it was likely Fooks knew his assailant; police had been called to the same address the month before for a domestic dispute and had recently executed a search warrant there.
No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath, and the investigation later went cold. The homicide remains unsolved and investigators continue to seek information. If anyone has information about Floyd Fooks’s death or knew him, please come forward.
