On Sunday morning, October 19, 2014, 56-year-old Larry Dildy was killed inside his second-floor apartment on Circular Avenue in Hamden, Connecticut, after an apparent home invasion and robbery. His wife was in an adjacent room when someone forced entry, the door’s wood split, and an intruder demanded something from Dildy. A physical struggle followed; Dildy was shot and also stabbed, and he died several hours later during surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police recovered a folding knife and a firearm at the scene.
Investigators identified two suspects. William Coutermash, 33, of East Haven, admitted driving the other man to the apartment and handing him a gun; he was arrested October 24, 2014, and later pleaded guilty to reduced charges. The man who entered the apartment and fired the fatal shot was identified as 38-year-old Nicholas Papantoniou, known as Nickel P; he was arrested November 25, 2014, and tried for felony murder, home invasion, robbery, and firearms violations. A jury rejected Papantoniou’s claim that the shooting was accidental.
Does anyone have information about Larry Dildy, his routine, or what was taken during that robbery?
