On the morning of July 20, 2014, 61-year-old clerk David Shand was working at the Bucks Hill Market in Waterbury, Connecticut, when a man entered the store intent on robbery. The assailant stepped behind the counter and shot Shand in the neck, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Shand was taken to Waterbury Hospital and later transferred to Hartford Hospital, but he died of his injuries on July 30, 2014; his death was ruled a homicide.

Police reviewed store surveillance footage and within hours identified a suspect. The video reportedly shows the man shooting Shand, then stepping over him to take money from the register. Authorities arrested 19-year-old Tony Dupre after a brief foot chase; he was charged initially with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree robbery, larceny, and interfering with an officer, and a judge set bond at $1 million.

Does anyone have additional details about the day of the robbery or knew David at the store?
