Donovan Silence Davis, a 22-year-old Black man also known as Marlon S. Brown, was found fatally shot in South Norwalk, Connecticut, on the evening of October 10, 1989. Officers located him face down in a pool of blood on Grove Street at about 8:08 p.m.; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. An autopsy determined the fatal wound was a shotgun blast to the back of the neck.
Witnesses described a disturbance just before the shooting and a black four-door sedan, reported as an Oldsmobile or Buick, carrying three to four men. Accounts conflict about the shooter’s appearance: one witness said a Black male dressed all in black demanded Davis identify someone and then shot him after Davis said he did not know; another witness described a Hispanic male in his early 20s wearing jeans and a jean jacket. Investigators later developed a lead naming a Black male called Eric as the shooter, possibly over a money dispute and allegedly acting for an incarcerated man named Cleveland Thompson, but no positive identification was ever made. The case remains unsolved and the Norwalk Police Department has asked the public for tips.
Did anyone in the Norwalk area know Donovan, the black four-door sedan, or the men seen near Grove Street that night?
