Conzuelo Nicole Solorio-Romero, a 25-year-old Hispanic woman, was abducted from her Kearns, Utah, home at gunpoint on February 6, 2021. Before she was taken, she sent a frantic message to her sister saying she was scared. Her captors forced her into a car and drove her to a studio apartment in West Valley City, where she was questioned and accused of being a police informant. She was shot twice and her body was later found abandoned on the side of a road in Tooele County; her family had held out hope and offered a reward before her remains were discovered nearly two months later.
Six people were arrested in connection with the case, including Orlando Esiesa Tobar and Jorge Rafael Medina-Reyes, charged with aggravated murder and aggravated kidnapping. Carolina Marquez and her son Fernando Marquez, linked to the restaurant where Solorio-Romero worked, were charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping, and obstruction of justice. Two other men were charged with desecration of a human body and obstruction of justice for their alleged roles in cleaning the crime scene and disposing of the body. Prosecutors suggested possible motives that included retaliation for informing or ties to members of the Marquez family’s circle, but the exact motive remained unclear.
Did anyone in the Kearns or West Valley City area know Conzuelo Nicole Solorio-Romero, her routines, or anything that could explain why she was targeted?
