In the early morning hours of April 18, 2020, a West Jordan, Utah, home was the scene of a targeted home invasion that left Tony Butterfield, 31, dead. Neighbors called 911 about 1:15 a.m. after hearing gunshots and a woman’s screams. Police found Tony in the backyard with at least one gunshot wound and his 30-year-old wife, Katherine, shot dead just inside the doorway. Their three children, all under four, were found unharmed upstairs.

Investigators say the intruder forced his way in and that Tony appears to have tried to defend his family, reportedly injuring the attacker with a knife. The house was ransacked and only about $20 and two cell phones were taken. Police identified 31-year-old Albert Enoch Johnson of West Jordan as the primary suspect; he was arrested in the Sacramento area on April 22, 2020, and returned to Utah to face charges. His wife, 29-year-old Sina Johnson, was arrested on obstruction and evidence-tampering counts and later accepted a plea deal in exchange for testifying against him.

Tony and Katherine are remembered in reports as hardworking, loving parents devoted to their children and their business. Does anyone have information about the couple, their landscaping business, or the night of April 18, 2020?
