On the night of March 12, 2020, 18-year-old Kannon Beesley was shot twice in the torso during a dispute over drugs in the basement of his home on North Fairfield Road in Layton, Utah. Beesley managed to go upstairs and alert his mother, who called 911; he was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries. Two men were present: 29-year-old Michael Jameel Hines and 19-year-old Jeremiah Wright. Wright had owed Beesley money and went to the house with Hines.
According to statements, Beesley displayed a large bag of marijuana, Hines attempted to steal it, and a physical fight ensued during which a handgun was drawn and Beesley was shot. Beesley told his mother the shooter was Jeremiah’s brother, a detail later clarified when it was reported Hines and Wright were close friends, not siblings. Wright was arrested on an obstruction charge; Hines was arrested, prosecutors said he admitted participating in the fight and planning the robbery, and he was later convicted of first-degree murder and related charges.
Does anyone have information about Beesley’s last hours or who else may have seen the men arriving that night?
