On the afternoon of May 6, 2016, 29-year-old Hispanic male Miguel Angel Rios was shot multiple times inside a home in the 500 block of 31st Street in Ogden, Utah. Police arrived about 2:40 p.m.; Rios was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his wounds. Witnesses saw two people running from the residence shortly after the shooting.
Investigators traced those leads to a nearby house on the 3000 block of Porter Avenue, where the Ogden Metro SWAT team served a search warrant and took two 18-year-old men into custody. Police reported the incident stemmed from gang rivalry; both men had documented gang histories and believed Rios belonged to a rival gang. According to police, an exchange of words and gang signs preceded the shooting, and one of the men produced a .22-caliber revolver and fired multiple times. The suspects reportedly fled, changed clothes, and hid the weapon in a crawl space.
Does anyone have information about Rios, the 500 block of 31st Street, or the events that afternoon?
