On March 15, 2015, 29-year-old Randy Lennell Lewis, a Black man from Kansas City, Missouri, was shot and killed during a gathering at the West Point, Utah, home of his ex-girlfriend, Andrea Green. Lewis had been visiting with Green and their two children; also present was Green’s then-boyfriend, 21-year-old Jory Arlow Fenstermaker of Ogden. The evening reportedly included drinking, marijuana use and playful slap boxing and wrestling before a verbal argument broke out between Lewis and Fenstermaker.
The homeowner tried to intervene; a single shot struck Lewis in the torso. Lewis was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Fenstermaker fled but surrendered several hours later during a traffic stop in Farmington and was arrested and charged with murder.
Fenstermaker later said he acted in self-defense, claiming Lewis had threatened him and reached for a kitchen knife, but investigators did not find a weapon near where Lewis was shot and Andrea Green testified she did not believe Lewis posed a threat. A jury convicted Fenstermaker of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, and he was sentenced to 16 years to life.
If anyone knew Randy, Andrea or their household at the time, can you share details about that night or what led up to the argument?
