Steven Carroll Ferguson, 34, was shot and killed on a street in Ogden, Utah late on February 23, 2015. Neighbors on the 3500 block of Jackson Avenue reported hearing gunfire and found Ferguson’s body in the street; he had been shot twice with a .357 magnum revolver, once in the arm and once in the lower back.

Police investigation tied 24-year-old Isaac Daniel Duran to the shooting. DNA from the scene linked Duran to the crime and officers recovered a gun at his home that matched the weapon used. A knife found nearby bore Ferguson’s fingerprints and Duran’s blood, and Duran had suffered a serious stab wound to his abdomen, indicating a mutual struggle between the two men, who were both members of the Ogden Trece gang.

Charged with first-degree felony murder, Duran later pleaded guilty to manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and two counts of discharging a firearm. At sentencing in April 2016 the judge imposed a maximum 15-year term with the sentences to run concurrently; the judge said the killing was a choice. Ferguson’s family disagreed with Duran’s claim he was scared and called him a brother. Does anyone have information about Ferguson’s last hours or the relationship between the two men?
