Stockton Digger Huot, a two-year-old boy, died of a single gunshot wound on the evening of April 19, 2014, in his family home in Wellsville, Utah. Earlier that day his father had been using a .22-caliber rifle and later set it down in the living room. Stockton’s three-year-old sister found the firearm and, while pretending to shoot at bears, accidentally discharged it. The bullet struck Stockton. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died later that night.
The Cache County Sheriff’s Office investigated and the case was reviewed by the county attorney’s office. Investigators described the shooting as a horrible accident and no criminal charges were filed against Stockton’s parents. The community offered support to the grieving family after the loss.
If anyone knew the family or witnessed events that evening, can you share information that might clarify what happened?
