Kevin Meik, a 63-year-old retired Salt Lake City police officer, was found fatally shot in his Sandy, Utah home on January 30, 2014. Family members, alarmed when he became unreachable, asked a neighbor to check on him; authorities initially considered a possible self-inflicted death but Sandy City police later ruled the case a homicide. Meik served fourteen years with the department in patrol, undercover narcotics and vice, and helped establish the burglary alarm unit before medically retiring in 1988.

Investigators have continued to treat the investigation as active rather than closed, but no arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced. Friends and family mark anniversaries with candlelight vigils as they await answers about who entered his home that day and why.

If anyone has information that could help solve Kevin Meik’s murder, please come forward.
