Willie Manley Hodge Jr., known as JR, disappeared from Sumter County, South Carolina after leaving a family home following an argument on the evening of January 23, 2019. He was 36 at the time. The next day police stopped a vehicle he was driving near Pinewood Road and Columbia Circle; Hodge pulled the car into a driveway, fled on foot into nearby woods and left his cell phone, driver’s license and other personal items in the vehicle. An immediate search turned up no sign of him. Family members reported him missing on January 30, 2019.
Hodge’s sister Sadie says he struggled with drugs and that brief disappearances were not uncommon, but this absence felt different because he always managed to get in touch. Investigators have pursued tips and interviewed people, including someone reportedly in the car that night, but no concrete evidence has emerged and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Does anyone with knowledge of the Pinewood Road/Columbia Circle area or who knew Willie around January 24, 2019 have information that could help explain what happened that night?
