An altercation at a party on Yellow Jacket Road in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, on March 5, 2022, ended in the death of 18-year-old Jason Samuel Warner. Multiple 911 calls reported shots fired shortly after midnight. Warner was shot multiple times by another male, taken by friends to St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington, and pronounced dead there. He was eight days shy of his 19th birthday and remembered by acquaintances as funny, respectful, kind, and ambitious.
Law enforcement agencies responding included the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and Milton-Freewater Police. Investigators identified 19-year-old Manuel Adam Peralez Jr. of Walla Walla as a suspect; Peralez turned himself in to Milton-Freewater Police on March 6, 2022, and was arrested for second-degree murder and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail. In June 2023, the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office announced a settlement in which Peralez agreed to plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter, a charge that carries a 25-year sentence, described as a resolution to provide closure for Warner’s family.
Are there details about Jason’s life or the party that anyone can add to help fill gaps in the timeline?
