On the late afternoon of November 21, 2019, in the 6600 block of Ponderosa Street in Central Point, Oregon, Nicholas Patrick Kubasiak, 38, was shot and killed. The Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit led the investigation, with detectives from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Medford and Ashland Police Departments participating.

Investigators developed a suspect, David Vaughn Bullard, born August 11, 1970, who had been living at the residence where the shooting occurred. On November 27, 2019, MADIU detectives arrested Bullard at 5:17 PM and lodged him at the Jackson County Jail. He was charged with Murder with no bail set and the case was forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office; an arraignment was scheduled for November 29, 2019.
