In the early hours of September 4, 2021, gunfire cut short a party on Sprague Street in Brockton, Massachusetts. Sixteen-year-old Liedson Monteiro-Terry, a student at Brockton Champion High School, was found with a gunshot wound to his head and pronounced dead at the scene. A ShotSpotter alert registered three shots in the area at about 1:05 a.m., and a large crowd scattered after the shooting.
Brockton Police and Massachusetts State Police worked the case together, interviewing numerous witnesses and reviewing neighborhood video surveillance. Investigators identified several suspects and prosecutors said the shooting may have been connected to a dispute involving the victim’s older brother. Friends and family described Liedson as an enthusiastic, well-liked young man who loved football.
By June and July 2022, arrests and indictments followed: Angel Colon, 22; Angel Vasquez, 23; and Malik Cotton, 21, were charged with murder and indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury. Two others faced related charges—Alexandria Rodrigues, 21, with perjury, and William Houston, 21, with unlawful possession of a firearm and being an accessory before the fact. Does anyone who knew Liedson or who was at that Sprague Street gathering have information to share?
