In early August 2020, 29-year-old Angel Rivera of neighboring Chicopee was taken into custody; police did not immediately disclose his specific alleged role. On September 5, 2020, 29-year-old Victor Velez Figueroa was arrested by the Massachusetts State Police and charged with murder; he was held on one-million-dollar cash bail. The Hampden District Attorney’s office said the investigation remained ongoing.
