On Thursday, November 21, 2019, Chicopee officers found 39-year-old Gary Michael Gaudette seated and unresponsive in a vehicle near 1296 Montgomery Street. He had died of a gunshot wound, and investigators from the Chicopee Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office treated the death as a homicide.

Within days the investigation identified a suspect and an arrest was made. Gaudette was remembered by family as having a heart of gold who loved hockey, hunting, boating and the New England Patriots. Born in Springfield and a Central High School graduate, he owned Arrow Tree Service and was described as a devoted son, brother and uncle.
