A summer community gathering at the Warren Street Playground in Lynn, Massachusetts, turned deadly on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Around 7:30 p.m., gunfire erupted during a youth basketball game and block party. When the scene was secured, 34-year-old Brandon Jesurum, an iron worker and father, had been shot multiple times, including a fatal wound to the head. Three other people — an 18-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, and a 49-year-old man — suffered serious but non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.
The 49-year-old man’s dog was also shot and later had to be put down. Investigators focused on a black Jetta seen at the scene; prosecutors say two men, one masked, exited the car, opened fire, and fled while a third man drove the vehicle. Within days authorities arrested Rogelleo Morrison, 43, and charged him with murder, and charged 25-year-old Luis Falcon as an accessory after the fact. A third suspect, Kenneil Hammond, was later apprehended and identified as the masked shooter.
What anyone who was at the playground that night remembers about the black Jetta or the shooters’ movements?
