David J. Carroll, 42, was shot outside Dylan’s Pub and Grille at 789 Centre Street in Brockton on January 13, 2018. Police received multiple 911 calls at about 2:02 AM; officers and emergency medical personnel found Carroll with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken to Brockton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined an altercation began inside the pub and continued into the parking lot, where the shooting occurred. Surveillance video and witness interviews tied Carroll’s confrontation to several other people. Two Brockton residents were later identified in the inquiry: Antonio Pedro Fontes, born June 27, 1982, was indicted for murder and related firearm charges and an arrest warrant was issued; Jose Oliveira, born March 11, 1981, was indicted for accessory after the fact to murder and firearm offenses and was to be summonsed for arraignment.
Carroll, known as Pupa, was born in Stoughton, graduated Brockton High School in 1993, and was noted by family for his loyalty and love of cooking.
